KEYBURY CHARITY EVENT 2017 – AN OARSOME CHALLENGE

It’s that time of the year when everyone at Keybury Fire and Security pull on their walking boots… and, this year, life jackets (just in case!) and head out into the beautiful countryside that is Windermere in The Lake District.

In previous years we have risen to various exhausting challenges which have included a punishing triathlon consisting of a forty mile bike ride, an eight mile hike up and down Whernside along with a twenty-one mile combined swim. Another year saw us walk thirty-six miles along the Pennine Way from Horton-in-Ribblesdale to Oakworth, just to name a few. As the Keybury challenges seem to get harder year-by-year the Keybury team were nervous for this year’s trial!

This year’s ‘challenge weekend’ is a gruelling twenty-mile row across Lake Windermere, on top of a lengthy combined one-hundred mile walk along the shores of the picture-perfect lake. Here at the head office we’re no Oxford rowing-team, nor surprisingly have the speed of Kelly Holmes… We could however be mistaken for a team of avid ramblers so we intend to add up the miles of each individual in order to hit our demanding targets.

This year we are supporting ‘Manorlands’ Sue Ryder Hospice in Oxenhope, our annual beneficiary of Keybury’s ambitious challenges, who receive 50% of the money we raise each year. The second beneficiary is ‘The British Heart Foundation’, who will receive the other half.

We are aiming to raise a total of £2000 for these commendable charities. We appreciate all sponsors with donations of any size greatly welcomed. Please follow the link to donate and help support these two wonderful charities.

Stay tuned to our social-media channels on the weekend of 10th and 11th of June with update tweets and Facebook live streaming throughout the two days.
