Schools dominate the Keybury diary in 2024. It’s common for schools to feature highly on our calendar during school holiday periods, but this year we’re seeing something different. Schools are looking to improve their safety and security offerings – even more than before. We have schools booked in every week of the year so far – in and out of term time.
When should schools install security systems?
There is no right or wrong time to install a security system. Although it really is ‘the sooner, the better’! In our experience, schools often prefer to book fire alarm servicing and security system maintenance visits when pupils aren’t in the building. Similarly, they usually request holiday periods for new installation projects with much cabling and drilling. And why not? It makes sense to minimise disruption to lessons.
This year we have seen schools grappling for those holiday spots, as many look to upgrade outdated systems. Our diary is filling up across all areas; design, installation and maintenance.
Of course, some things can’t wait. A false alarm, a damaged access system or unidentified bleeping needs to be checked and repaired by a professional. Schools with Keybury’s maintenance cover in place benefit from same day priority response, including accommodating ‘after 3pm’ calls.
Of course if we have to attend when you’re hosting an assembly or teaching split vowel phonemes, we’ll do our best not to disturb.
Keybury’s team of surveyors and engineers are security screened and carry DBS checks. Our staff are experienced at working with schools, as well as care homes, community organisations, charities and in specialist settings.
We work with a number of Multi Academy Trusts providing the complete Fire and Security package.
Many trusts and schools have opted for our multi-system offer. This means they benefit from having our team install and maintain all of their fire and security systems. Keybury install and maintain fire alarms, CCTV, access control systems and intruder alarm systems. We also supply and service fire extinguishers. Taking multiple services offers benefits beyond the obvious streamlined approach to paperwork, servicing and installation. It can also provide financial savings.
Protecting Schools with Fire & Security Systems
Fire Alarms and Access Control Systems offer the front line of defence for a school, ensuring pupils and staff are kept safe in school. As buildings, they also contain a vast amount of valuable property; from tech equipment to tools and teaching resources. They are also home to the invaluable; pupils’ work. In some cases, this means portfolios of work prepared for crucial examinations.
All of these things must be protected from fire, theft and criminal damage. Most schools use CCTV and monitored intruder alarm systems to provide the required level of security. Using these systems together gives school leaders, staff and parents peace of mind.
It’s our family business to protect your family and your business… and your school! As a family business we spend time in schools as parents as well as professionals. Keybury are police compliant and insurance approved. We hold NSI GOLD and BAFE approvals for fire and security systems. Our team are award winning too! Much of our work comes from recommendations between schools, and we’re proud that many MATs opt to engage our services across the whole trust.
