BT Redcare is the largest supplier of fire and security alarm signalling services in the UK.
Redcare is widely deployed from BT which at its highest level is the highest security grade on the European standard of intruder alarms.
The basic system involves transmitting a continuous signal on a standard phone line, which can also be used for normal voice and broadband services. This prevents alarm systems being defeated by the line being cut. If the phone line is cut or there is a fault, the alarm receiving centre will be notified. Enhanced versions exist that also use GSM (mobile) as a back up to the main phone line.
Every 2 minutes Redcare GSM tests that the alarm is working. If a zone is activated, the monitoring station is alerted. If a 2nd zone is confirmed activated, the monitoring station can then alert emergency services to attend the site and investigate the disturbance.
Redcare works below the voice frequency spectrum on a phone line and therefore does not interfere with phone calls, so there is no need for an extra line.
Keybury uses BT Redcare as one of their signalling options on their security systems and is very popular with our customers.
The varying levels of Redcare monitoring depend on the needs of your property and the requirements of your insurance company. Whichever system you choose you can have the peace of mind that comes from knowing that if an intruder enters you property, a signal will be sent to your monitoring station and police alerted.
