Keybury Fire and Security has achieved Bronze Accreditation with the national environmental accreditation scheme, iiE (Investors in the Environment)
The team at Keybury Fire and Security have been working hard to reduce our environmental impact. Keybury has always been committed to providing fire and security solutions with a small environmental impact. From solar panels and EVs to wildflower planting and growing edible plants at HQ. With the help of the iiE accreditation scheme, the Keybury team have made progress in reducing emissions from energy, waste, water and paper usage. Alongside this, we have engaged in team activities including gardening, upcycling and walking to work for charity.
Announcing Our Bronze Level Accreditation
To achieve Bronze level accreditation, an organisation is required to have established the foundation of an Environmental Management System. This provides us with the framework to develop and implement sustainability and conservation across our business. We also calculated our carbon footprint baseline and 2 further year’s data for performance monitoring.
Following our audit, the Investors in Environmnet report praised our senior management for engaging with sustainability across the organisation and our website and operations team for tracking our digital footprint and taking steps to reduce our digital impact, including green hosting and file storage consolidation. It also highlighted our gardening projects and charitable walking and cycling challenge which encouraged the team to adopt sustainable commuting whilst raising funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.
Our team have been recording resource usage for a number of years. This has been used to calculate our carbon footprint. Over the past 12 months, we have realised resource reductions including electricity (-13%), water (-31%), general waste (-5%) and recycling (-8%). Measuring these resources allowed us to calculate a carbon footprint of 9.58tCO2e. This is a limited slice of our overall emissions. Whilst we aim to continue to reduce each measured resource, we expect the overall carbon footprint number to increase as we record more of our resources, giving a more accurate picture.

Comments from our team as we announce our accreditation;
“We’re really excited to achieve Bronze Level Accreditation. The amount of work that has gone in at all levels has been immense – from data collcection to event organisation to sorting out the bins! This accreditation recognises the work being put in across the whole team as we continue our environmental journey with support from Investors in Envrionment. We’re taking a moment to celebrate before we get on with the work of achieving Silver Level Accreditation!”
Christine Bell – Keybury Fire & Security’s Green Champion and Sustainability Lead.
I’m really proud of the team effort behind this accreditation. Everyone has helped us achieved this – from colleagues joining in with our fundraising and gardening activities to those colleagues collecting data and implementing policies across the company.
Karen Gee – Keybury Fire & Security’s HR Director
What next on Keybury Fire & Security’s Sustainability Journey?
The work now begins towards achieving silver accreditation. Our next steps include further resource reduction, work on a travel plan and further improvement on our waste reduction. We’ll also look to provide more sustainability training for our team. As well as being highlighted by our Investors in Environment audit, these areas were raised by staff during a recent environmental survey completed by our team. Look out for updates on our actions and activities as we continue on our environmental journey.
