Keybury Christmas Breakfast 2020
The Keybury Christmas Breakfast was different to all the events of previous years. But by December we’re all very used to tweaking plans due to coronavirus.
Normally the whole team would travel from across the district to squeeze into our head office in Keighley. The place buzzes with conversation, everyone grabs a cuppa and a breakfast butty. We exchange secret santa gifts and merry wishes for the festive season. It’s a really lovely event. There’s usually a video which contains as many embarassing photos as we can find, and a review of the year. This is followed by a speech from our MD, Frank, then it’s on to the awards.
The Christmas breakfast is a great opportunity to get everyone together. We only manage this on one other occasion each year: the annual team day which usually takes place in summer. The team day had to be cancelled this year for obvious reasons.
Sadly the breakfast couldn’t take place in person, and whilst we explored alternatives such as a “drive in” style event, in the end we decided the safest thing for everyone would be a virtual event. The virtual butties left a lot to be desired, but the message of thanks for the team and the awards were very well received.
This year Shane was awarded “Installation engineer of the year” – you might recognise Shane as he is often praised by customers on our social media pages. He’s a real team player – he even went up the step ladder to replace the batteries in Sue’s Christmas lights for her. Garry was awarded “Service engineer of the year”. He’s always helpful to his colleagues, and often specifically requested by customers. What a compliment! Georgia was awarded “Administrator of the year”. All our customers will recognise her name as she sends out the annual maintenance letters to invite you to book your service – which has been an extra big job after the lockdown earlier this year.
This year, Frazer won “The People’s Choice” – an award based on customer feedback, and Jon won the coveted “Employee of the Year” trophy, voted for by colleagues. Huge well done to everyone who received an award this year.
All our team have worked incredibly hard during this especially challenging year. We’re really proud of them.
Wishing everyone a merry and a safe Christmas and all the very best for the new year. Hopefully we’ll be back to real butties and in person awards by next Christmas…
